Choptoberfest – Halloween Axe & Knife Throwing


Warning… This Target Sport is Extremely Addictive, fun and surprisingly therapeutic!!!

Welcome to the first ever Back to Wilderness Choptoberfest Annual Halloween Event!

A Halloween Themed Fancy Dress(*) Axe & Knife Throwing Event – Saturday 31st October 2020 **Daytime only**

  1. Upon arrival, each player will randomly pick a “Trick” or “Treat” which will separate the Zombies from the Humans!
  2. Each 1 hr session will have the usual safe & responsible training & coaching under professional guidance
  3. Each player will be throwing not only for their own “Personal Highest Score” (aka survival!), but also for the highest accumulated score for their “Trick” or “Treat” clan (Zombies v Humans Survival!).
  4. At the end of each 1hr session there will be a personal high score attempt.
  5. There will also be an additional chance to boost scores with 2 special kill shot opportunities, with the final 2 additional throws!
  6. Scores will be tallied & published on this website as an Exclusive Annual Halloween Event only!
  7. The individual highest 3 scores for the day will have prizes posted out to them.Who will win Zombies…. Or Humans!


  • 1st Prize – A Handmade Fine Italian Velvety Smooth Solid Plain Chocolate Axe, which looks too good to eat! (May contain traces of nuts)
  • 2nd & 3rd Prize – A Handmade Halloween Belgian Hot Chocolate Wooden Spoon Stirrer! (May contain traces of nuts)

(*) Fancy Dress Special Note – Appropriate Fancy Dress is permitted & encouraged to help make this as fun as possible, but costumes must not impede the ability to throw safely at any time. Costumes may need to be adjusted/removed to ensure safe throwing is possible at all times. The Instructor’s word is final where safety is concerned.

**Disclaimer** No Humans or Zombies will be harmed before, during or after this event, though some brave pumpkins and apples may remain to feed the deer after we have all left for the day!!!

Run as a Pop up event at High Lodge, Thetford Forest, IP27 0AF, for Axe (Angel & Tomahawk) & Knife Throwing next to the main field off the drive!!!

  1. Hour Long pop up event, the sessions are run hourly across the day – 10:00-16:00.
    • In each session, there can be up to 5 throwers at a time
    • You will get a 10 minute brief followed by 50 minutes of throwing time
    • Includes Training axes, Tomahawk & even Knives depending on competency demonstrated
    • £20pp for the hour – (Pre-booking recommended).


  • COVID-19 Social Distancing Guidelines will be in complied with, and equipment cleaned between uses.
  • COVID-19 Anyone who is symptomatic or suspects they have been exposed to the virus must not take part and should remain at home.
  • Suitable for adults and juniors 10yrs+ (children under 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult)
  • No open-toed footwear permitted
  • Pricing includes professional tuition & all equipment (only equipment provided may be used)
  • Site Access is not included to High Lodge
  • Card payments encouraged where possible, but cash accepted as a backup due to intermittent connectivity!

  • Only equipment provided by Back to Wilderness may be used on the range.
  • Do Not bring your own knives or axes to these events, unless previously agreed with Back to Wilderness for one of our courses or events.
  • Back to Wilderness accepts no liability for any knives, axes or other such prohibited objects carried by participants to or from any of our courses or events.
  • UK Knife Laws must be obeyed at all times – see here for full details – failure to do so may result in you being arrested, charged, sentenced and or fined.

Offence: It is an offence for any person, without lawful authority or good reason, to have with him in a public place, any article which has a blade or is sharply pointed except for a folding pocket-knife which has a cutting edge to its blade not exceeding 3 inches.  The burden of proving the lawful authority lies with the defendant.
Defences Good reason, lawful authority, it was for use at work,(caretaker), religious reasons and it was part of a national costume.
